Somekind is a groundbreaking crowdfunded & community-focused independent publisher. It was founded in March 2020 by Melbourne-based Vaughan Mossop and Simon Davis during the coronavirus pandemic (and subsequent lockdown) as a way to keep hospitality venues alive and creatives busy.
We have since expanded our series to LA, with Now Serving (read about them here) curating Takeaway LA to make sure we are finding and supporting the venues that are important to the community and need this support.
At Somekind™, we think it’s only fair that our authors take the majority of the profit, with the proceeds split between ALL our creative contributors. We strongly believe in the importance of community – in its ability to enrich and transform our lives, to lift us up and make us into something so much more than we would be if we stood alone. And that starts here.
We also believe in the environment, so we’ll be avoiding using any fancy finishes on our books that might render them less than 100% recyclable. After all, the last thing the earth needs is any more unnecessary damage done to it, right?
But above all else, our promise is to make good books for good people.
And to keep telling interesting stories.
